Reflection on Document Analysis

On the first week of ICT class, we had been told to do a document analysis on ‘Smart School Blueprint’ and ‘Smart School Roadmap’. The Smart School implementation in Malaysia was likely focused on world of multimedia.   Malaysian Smart School is a learning institution that has been systemically reinvented in terms of teaching and learning as well as the improvement of the school management processes in order to help students cope and leverage on the Information Age.
Smart School is not just about ICT intervention in teaching and learning. The national curriculum and pedagogy are given the highest importance, with the role of teachers, administrators, parents and the community enhanced in the education of the Malaysian students. Individuality, creativity and initiative amongst the students are prioritised. However, ICT is critical in making the teaching and learning processes easier, more fun and effective, as well as making communication and management among the stakeholders more efficient. The Malaysian Smart School is a place where all students can learn within a conducive learning environment. It offers various curricula with on-going evaluation, handled by professional administrators and teachers.
The most important idea about Sekolah Bestari involves the teaching and learning process. The Bestari curriculum will cater for all levels of learners. This is where virtual express class concept comes in. A fast learners will be able to proceed to the higher and more complex contents of the syllabus while the slow learners will continue with activities until they are ready to move on. The first step towards the preparation of Sekolah Bestari is for the Bestari Teachers undergoing retraining in FIVE skills in context with Sekolah Bestari. The skills are: 1) Learning Skills, 2) Creative and Critical Thinking, 3) Fasilitating, 4) Assessement and Evaluation, and 5) Techologically competent. All these skills must be acquired wholly for teachers to be able to FACILITATE Bestari classrooms.
